A Very Red Sox Birthday

For his upcoming birthday, Arthur Giddon had just one wish: he wanted to attend the upcoming Red Sox/ Yankees game and serve as a bat boy.
That’s a big wish.
And while it’s not always true that the size of a birthday wish is directly related to the number of candles being wished upon, Mr. Giddon’s extraordinary wish is matched only by his extraordinary birthday—he is turning 100.
Perhaps because he’s celebrating such a major birthday, the Red Sox have decided to grant Mr. Giddon’s wish. He’ll serve as bat boy for the first home team batter.
So if you watch this Saturday’s game, keep an eye out for the birthday boy. He’ll be the one on the field, in a Red Sox jersey, number 100.

This weekend, my 12-year old daughter and her friends are hosting a surprise birthday sleepover for one of their friends whose mother lost her very short battle with lung cancer this past July. Each year, her Mom would have a huge sleepover birthday party for her which all the girls looked forward to. This will be the first birthday she will have without her Mom and it will probably be difficult for her and her Dad and brothers.
