For all those Comedy Central fans out there, funny man Jon Stewart turns 47 today!
Best known for his hit talk show, The Daily Show, Stewart is one of the country’s most popular comedians. Some of his accolades include two Peabody Awards for The Daily Show’s coverage of the 2000 and 2004 Presidential Elections as well as Time’s 100 most influential people of the year award in 2005.
Aside from The Daily Show, Stewart has also appeared in numerous movies including Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Big Daddy and The Faculty. While his onscreen work is well known, Stewart is also a gifted writer.
Stewart’s work has been published in several magazines, including The New Yorker and Esquire, and he has authored two books. His first effort was Naked Pictures of Famous People (1998), a collection of humorous, satirical essays. Written with Ben Karlin and David Javerbaum, his next book, America (the book): A Citizen’s Guide to Democracy Inaction (2004), became a best seller.
