Greetings from the Queen City!
We’re here at the Central Intercollegiate Athletics Association 2010 tournament to spread the word about the movement for more birthdays — educating African American athletes, their families and their fans about cancer and health issues important to the African American community.
And we thought there was no better time to visit than on CIAA’s 65th birthday!
The CIAA Tournament is one of the most successful sporting events for America’s oldest Historically Black Colleges and Universities and, trust me, it shows! 100,000 fans are expected to have attended this year including celebrities such as Steve Harvey, Yolanda Adams, Ginuwine, and En Vogue!
We’ve already signed up hundreds of new members interested in learning more about what they can do to spread awareness and create a world with less cancer and more birthdays.
But it’s not just the more birthdays crew down here in Charlotte — we’re here with ACS staff and volunteers from Georgia, D.C., Delaware, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia and the Carolinas! We’ve joined forces to spread the word about the “Active for Life – Campus Style” program — an initiative dedicated to helping HBCU campuses implement a 10-week program that encourages students to be more active, setting goals and forming teams for motivation and support!
The last few days have been such a success — thanks to everyone at CIAA for all your support!
We’re proud to team up with the CIAA Tournament and its member institutions to support such a historic African American sporting event!
Oh and if you are in going to be in Charlotte tomorrow, stop by and pay us a visit before all the festivities end!
