Introducing Birthday Cate
Who is Birthday Cate? She’s an active blogger, devoted mom and family caregiver. She has seen cancer effect people she loves too many times, so she’s passionate about the American Cancer Society’s movement for more birthdays. Having dealt with the disease in her own family, she knows first-hand just how important it is to stay well, get well, to find cures and fight back. Birthday Cate understands that too often people look for silver-bullet solutions, forgetting all the progress we could achieve if we took control of our own health and joined together to fight back against the disease. She has dedicated herself to fostering this movement for less cancer and more birthdays and helping people make smart choices so that we can all enjoy more time with the people we love.
Birthday Cate is no single supporter of the movement, but rather a composite of them all. She symbolizes the collective power of ordinary Americans — joining together in this movement and working to build a world with more birthdays, where cancer never steals another day of anyone’s life. So here’s to Birthday Cate! We look forward to celebrating more birthdays with her!

This weekend, my 12-year old daughter and her friends are hosting a surprise birthday sleepover for one of their friends whose mother lost her very short battle with lung cancer this past July. Each year, her Mom would have a huge sleepover birthday party for her which all the girls looked forward to. This will be the first birthday she will have without her Mom and it will probably be difficult for her and her Dad and brothers.
